14 january 2011

hello hello!

one week down and i have switched quite a few classes! one of which came about when my alarm went off at 7:30 yesterday and i decided that learning about the origins of king arthur in ancient welsh culture really wasn't that worth it.

here's the rundown:

1. development of the castle - this one made the cut!
2. irish art from the iron age to 8th c. ad - same here.
3. introduction to practical ethics - i was informed that this would not count towards my major... sorry, ethics, but that's not happening.
4. celtic mythology, religion and folklore - switched into the upper level version of the same class: "a field of gods and men": celtic myths. the professor started the class by saying that no actual celtic myths exist.... of course they don't... this should be interesting.
5. literature of the american south - replaced with modern irish lit - ulysses here we come!
6. king arthur and the holy grail - the tudor conquest of ireland? at least it's not at 9 am.

so that's where we stand! countdown to strasbourg? 5 days! and our coordinator here just planned a trip to derry in northern ireland to see the giant's causeway for a weekend in february! so excited!

in my spare time i have been watching a lot of grey's anatomy with mary. it has reached a semi-obsessive level but we're having a lot of fun reliving all the drama and gore from the earlier seasons!

hope everyone has a lovely weekend and i'll update soon if anything interesting happens :)
