i hope that everyone had a lovely holiday season! although it was surreal to be away from the chaotic gathering in michigan, we managed to have our own little celebration in clifden.
mom and eileen arrived on the 19th and i can't even describe how amazing it was to see them, jet-lagged but excited, stepping off the bus. we walked to our hotel and then walked around galway for as long as they could manage before returning to the hotel for a nap :) the two proceeded to fall asleep for 3 hours while i watched a weird documentary on toys throughout the ages (furbees anyone?). we woke up the next day ready to take on the city. unfortunately, galway/ireland has been experiencing some of the coldest weather in years, so it wasn't incredibly pleasant to walk around. we did make it to my school and apartment before retreating to mcswiggans for a nice dinner.
on tuesday, we took a bus tour to the cliffs of moher, where mom made sure that we stayed far from the edge! the tour also allowed for some scenic shots and time with cows :)
the cliffs were shrouded by mist and the sun, which made them look more like clouds than rock. it was again sooo cold out but we made the best of it! we had dinner at my favorite fish n chips place mcdonaghs :)
on wednesday, we made our way to clifden, where we rented a cute little apartment complete with kitchen and christmas tree. we spent the following few days catching up, playing bananagrams and wandering the town.

we took a long walk down to the harbour in westport, which provided a great view of crough patrick. the irish traditionally climb this mountain barefoot every year!
it was such a good week and so so difficult to say goodbye knowing i won't see mom and eileen for 4 months. i have no doubt, however, that it will fly by and we (mocha included) will be reunited in no time!
