2 march 2011 - irish-isms

not much new over here. it's rag week here at the university which is apparently an excuse to party 24 hours a day for a week. it has been extremely entertaining! we've been going out a bit more now that it isn't constantly raining! i'm starting to realize how fast this semester is flying and subsequently, how little galway time i have left :( there's nothing quite like the pubs here and i am going to miss them sooo much!

as mary and i sat in the kitchen all day trying to write our midterm papers (this one is on the protestant reformation in ireland during the tudor reign -- henry viii was a horrible guy), we launched into a discussion about our favorite irish-isms. noticeably absent from the local vocabulary? "top o' the mornin'" :)

giving the grind = tutoring
getting the shift = making out
that's class = that's great
you're grand = no worries
having the craic = having fun
thanks a million = thanks
i'm just slaggin him = i'm just teasing him
chat to you soon = talk to you soon

so chat to you soon and thanks a million for reading :)

xoxo
