today was absolutely amazing!
although it started out with 4 hours of extremely monotonous orientation, the day greatly improved after my two hour nap :) we were exhausted from our first clubbing experience last night at club cuba. they played a surprising amount of american music which was comforting and we befriended some fellow americans from usc (shout out to alex ovadia).
after our naps today, we ventured into city centre to pick up our phones! it's been a strange few days without any way of communicating with each other but it was kind of nice. my phone is this tiny little nokia that has no camera... i feel like a fool using it because i don't know how to text with number keys anymore haha.
the weather has been gorgeous these past few days but people have been constantly warning us that we still need to purchase "rain gear" which involves rain pants... sounds ominous and i'm not looking forward to walking 10 minutes to school in pouring rain.
we've been exploring galway as much as possible to take advantage of the current sunny/70 degree weather. tonight we walked down by the river where all of the houses are painted in bright colors and overlook water, land and mountains. it's incredible how the city is surrounded by the most beautiful countryside.
we then went to dinner at a little restaurant that served traditional irish stew and was perfect for people watching. afterward we wandered around the city and bought some much needed irish souvenirs (ie playing cards, posters and sheep keychains).
on the way home we stopped at tesco (our grocery store) to pick up some snacks :) it's so nice being in an apartment so close to all sorts of shopping. we've been having a lot of fun planning meals and cooking for ourselves.
i'll end with some more pictures from the day! love you all
I can't wait to read every SINGLE post. I miss and love you
